Identifying Your Needs
Our experienced team will carefully assess the information gathered to pinpoint your specific needs. We recognise that each individual and family is distinct, and our goal is to recommend an intervention that aligns with your identified concerns.
Choosing the Right Intervention

Your journey towards well-being starts with this personalised approach. Contact Bonsai Therapy, and let us navigate this path together.
What to expect at initial consultation?
During this initial meeting, we’ll take some time to get to know you and gather information about your child’s needs and your concerns. It’s also a perfect opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and for us to explain our approach in detail.
Initial appointment with parents/ carers to gather history and elicit their hopes for therapy. Usually lasts 60 minutes. This will guide what intervention is most appropriate. At Bonsai we work to the code of ethics provided by our professional bodies (PSI, PTI).
* Some insurance companies may help to cover the cost of therapy.

Therapy
Play
Therapy
Is a therapeutic intervention that uses play and creativity to help children express themselves. It is an especially beneficial approach for under 12’s as they often struggle to find words to explain how they feel and play offers them a language in sessions to use, rather than applying traditional talk therapy. It seeks to engage children at their own level using the medium of play to help them prevent or resolve a wide range of difficulties.
Counselling
Psychology
Counselling is a type of talking therapy or psychological therapy. It involves talking to a trained counsellor in confidence who can help the child deal with negative thoughts and feelings. Counselling psychology is used to treat a wide range of mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, negative life events, bereavement, domestic violence, sexual, emotional and physical abuse, trauma and relationship issues.
Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
Child & adolescent psychotherapy is a therapeutic treatment for children, young people, and their families who may be experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties. This type of therapy emphasizes the significance of early childhood experiences & relationships and their impact on the internal world of the child. From the moment we are born, we are ready to relate to others around us, and these early years can shape our relationships with ourselves and others across the life cycle.
Theraplay
Is an therapeutic intervention that works on enhancing and improving parent/carer- child relationships. It is a play based intervention suitable from birth to 18 years. It is a joint intervention including children and carer (s). It helps develop communication between carer and child, including in a non verbal way.
